Final iDrive Race of 2017 was a Success!

Final iDrive Race of 2017 was a Success!

The final race of the iDrive Fall Series was held on Wednesday October 18 in the backwards formation.

We had many drivers come out for the opportunity to run the Kartplex backwards, which resulted in an exciting night of racing!

In the Light Class Evan Stamer, a Kartplex regular in the Ignite Series, pulled off not one but two wins Wednesday night.

Our iDrive Light points leader, Brenden Lauer, was not so lucky. Backwards proved to be a struggle for him, finishing below the top 5 in both races. Fortunately for Lauer, two of his four “drop” races for the Championship points were used on these, helping to keep his points total up.

Bobby Krug was a fan of the backwards set-up, snagging a second and third place finish in the two races of the night. Micah Floretta took the other second place finish of the night that, along with his fourth place finish, helped him to clinch the third place championship position by 1 point.

Official Finish for the Fall Series iDrive Light Championship:

Champion – Brenden Lauer

Second Place – Bobby Krug

Third Place – Micah Floretta

The iDrive Heavy Class also proved to have a lot of tough competition on Wednesday with only ONE driver finishing on the podium in both races. Eric Loddeke was able to gain both a first and third place finish, helping to pad his points for the championship. Eric’s father Craig Loddeke also gained a podium with a second place finish, ending a strong last couple of races for the iDrive Fall Series. There must be something in the water at the Loddeke household!
Chris Keefer, iDrive regular, came in to the night with a strong lead in points, and even with a night of tough competition was able to keep that lead for a Fall Series championship.

Official Finish for the Fall Series iDrive Heavy Championship:

Champion – Chris Keefer

Second Place – Craig Loddeke

Third Place – Eric Loddeke

The iDrive Championship Shootout will be held on Saturday November 4 as part of the final Ignite series race of the year.

The overall champion in both the Light and Heavy Classes will be awarded the use of a new Ignite racing kart for the 2018 season which will be sponsored by Margay Racing. The champions will also be honored at our annual Kartplex Banquet of Champions.

This has been an exiting season for the iDrive Series, many close races and a lot of tough competition! We look forward to hopefully seeing many more, new faces next year. The iDrive series is the base of our ladder program and there is no better place to start racing than at the Kartplex!
